About HENSEL Fahrzeugbau

Built for the people who rely on them

When a vehicle is part of an emergency response or a working day, it has to fit the job exactly. That is what we build: special-purpose vehicles and roll containers designed around how our customers actually work, made in our own workshops in Waldbrunn and serviced by the same people who built them.

Founded by Heinz Hensel in 1983, HENSEL Fahrzeugbau has become a trusted supplier well beyond the Main-Franconia region of northern Bavaria — for fire services, Germany’s federal technical relief agency (THW), rescue services, skilled trades and the transport industry.

Our structure and our range have changed a great deal over four decades. One thing has not: our customers’ satisfaction decides whether we have done our job.

What we do best

Planning

Individual planning, from the first sketch

Every vehicle starts with your operational requirement, not a catalogue page. Several patent applications and registered utility models have come out of that work, alongside practical details you only find by listening to crews — such as our load-securing system for roll containers.

Production

Built under one roof

Body construction, electrics, mechanics and paintwork all happen in Waldbrunn, by our own staff. We replaced traditional departmental boundaries with team-based working, so the people building your vehicle can see the whole job rather than one step of it.

Service

Reachable, and quick to act

Repairs, inspections and modifications are handled by our own service workshop. Because we built the vehicle, we know it — and we adapt our processes as your requirements change.

Ines Hensel, Managing Director

Management

Ines Hensel has led HENSEL Fahrzeugbau as sole managing director since 2013, succeeding her father and company founder Heinz Hensel and taking the family business into its second generation. She learned the trade from the ground up: an apprenticeship in vehicle body construction, a degree in automotive engineering at Ulm University of Applied Sciences, and an MBA from the Open University in the UK.

She later negotiated the buyout of the co-shareholder’s 50 % stake, returning HENSEL to full family ownership. Since then she has driven product innovations such as the GW-Logistik equipment truck and the fire-service roll containers, and modernised production.

Today the company stands on a stable, independent footing — able to keep investing in innovation, apprenticeships and long-term customer relationships.

Our people

Around 60 people in Waldbrunn stand behind every order — and most of the expertise in this building was trained in it.

Coachbuilders, electricians, vehicle mechanics, painters, mechatronics engineers, technicians and commercial staff work as one team, which is why questions get answered by someone who knows your vehicle.
